A woman accused of robbing a service station has been found hiding in the roof of a house in Yass.

Police had been searching for the woman since the armed robbery took place at the Caltex Service Station on Comur Street in Yass at around 9:45 pm on Saturday (31 October).

The 26-year-old Central Coast woman, Lorna Whitmore, allegedly threatened the attendant at Caltex with a knife and some sort of taser before stealing cash and cigarettes. She then fled on foot.

Officers from the Hume Police District attended the service station on Saturday night and launched an investigation into the armed robbery.

Following inquiries, Ms Whitmore was found hiding in a roof cavity at a house in Yass at around 10:00 am yesterday (2 November).

Ms Whitmore was arrested and taken to Yass Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

She was refused bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court today.
