Canberra billionaire Terry Snow built a multi-million dollar luxury equine estate on the South Coast as a passion project. Now, just over 12 months after his death, the world-famous Willinga Park is up for sale.

The Canberra businessman, property developer and philanthropist bought the property at Bawley Point almost 20 years ago and was enormously proud of what he developed there.

Under his watchful eye, the equine estate grew to boast world-class facilities across 2300 acres.

Mr Snow died last year, aged 80.

In a statement, his son Stephen Byron said the property held a special meaning for the Snow family.

“Many people build their sandcastles in the sky, but my father Terry was unique in his ability to turn them into reality,” he said. “Willinga Park was the culmination of his dreams and his great passion, and he most certainly brought that vision to life.

“There has now come a time when it makes sense to hand over the reins, so to speak, leaving an opportunity to look at future options for Willinga Park – the equestrian, event, and accommodation business – and the Equine Vet Centre.”

Willinga Park’s award-winning facilities include five round yards, a covered arena, a campdraft area, a training pool and wash bays.

There are also 32 luxury stables and 200 event stables to house the property’s four-legged residents.

It’s also been the site of a series of events, including the Gold Buckle Campdraft Championship earlier this year (one of the richest campdraft events in Australia).

A state-of-the-art vet hospital with imaging suites, in-house laboratory testing capacity and rehabilitation facilities are also located on the grounds.

The estate also features award-winning architecture.

Willinga Park is home to a conference centre with capacity for up to 250 people (depending on the venue), luxury accommodation in self-contained pavilions, a restaurant, and a sculpture garden set over more than 10 acres.

It features a range of renewable energy measures, such as one of Australia’s largest private solar panel micro-grids and a Tesla battery storage system.

Mr Byron said the property was also well regarded for its equine endeavours, including for training and breeding.

“The property is in excellent shape to be taken to the next level, and I believe that with the right owner and operator, it can continue to be an incredible asset for the South Coast and equine sport in Australia.

“We see great potential ahead of the Brisbane Olympic Games for Willinga Park to play a key role as a breeding and training facility, something that was part of my dad’s long held dream to elevate equestrian sport in Australia.”

Media reports suggest that while no price guide has been publicly released, the estate is expected to sell for at least $200 million.
