Batemans Bay robbery attempt fails when employee grabs iron bar

Two men are on the run after an attempted armed robbery at a bakery on Orient Street in Batemans Bay at around 6:30 am this morning (31 March).

The men allegedly demanded cash, before threatening a bakery employee with an object concealed within a sock.

The bakery employee refused to comply and armed himself with an iron bar.

The two men fled in a southerly direction along Orient Street. Police have not stated whether the two men took anything from the bakery.

A NSW Police spokesperson said an investigation is underway and detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen two men in the area earlier today.

The first man was wearing a grey hooded jumper and a face covering and is described as approximately 170 cm tall with a stocky build.

The second man is described as approximately 180 cm with a slim build. He was wearing a dark shirt and a face covering.
