About Ruwendi Wakwella

Ruwendi (a.k.a. Wendy) is a current Postgraduate student at the Australian National University, studying Diplomacy.

A graduate of Macquarie University in Sydney, Ruwendi worked in the Not-for-profit field for 3 years, specialising in policy research and advocacy – with a keen interest in politics, international relations, and women's rights.

As a native Sri Lankan, she worked in Sri Lanka as a freelance journalist on the field, writing particularly about the plight of women in post-conflict zones.

Having moved from Sydney, Ruwendi prefers the feeling of community she has experienced in Canberra and has surprised herself at how fond she has grown of the Capital State. Most of her evenings are spent admiring the Canberra skyline at sunset which continues to mesmerise her.

When she isn't busy reading up for her assignments, (or working at the RiotACT), you might catch Ruwendi at your local watering hole, or getting excited about the next dog she sees on the road in a not-so-subtle-manner.
