About Regional is taking a step forward, much sooner than I had anticipated.

I’ve got that funny sick/excited feeling, but am pushing through it.

I am very proud to announce a partnership with Raisin – Regional Science and Innovation.’

Raisin is the baby of Candelo’s Kate Burke, yes singer and instrumentalist Kate Burke. Who knew a heart for science was keeping time with her music?

Kate is completing her Masters in Science Communication (one talented lady) and saw a match with what I am trying to do with About Regional.

Shazam!

Through the prism of Raisin, Kate will be sharing exceptional stories of science and innovation from and about regional communities.

Given that there is always a dose of passion and conviction with anything that comes from regional Australia, you can expect more than E = mc² from Raisin.

Kate being Kate, Raisin will also move you with personal tales of love, life and science. A true reflection of how community and environment influence the story of regional Australia.

You will be able to follow Kate’s work right here at About Regional, her first feature article is brewing now.

That sick feeling is starting to ease knowing that people like Kate Burke are on board.

The partnership with Raisin signals a step up for About Regional content.

The vision for About Regional is to share what regional people know, do and think.

There’s a glue that comes with that, something intangible that gives regional communities strength, confidence and pride.

In the coming months I am keen to build on what Kate has helped me start, and pull together a network of collaborators. Regional experts who help us all get the most out of life.

About Regional will be a platform where country people of integrity, humour and knowledge can share what they know and think.

Science is the first area of interest; how will it grow from there?

Watch this space.

In these times of global connectedness (thought spell checker would pick me up on that one, but no red line) lets make sure the voice of regional people are part of the mix.

Happy to hear your ideas and suggestions.

About Regional has been finding it’s feet over the last five months, thank you to those who have shown an interest and pushed me along.

Ian
