The Eurobodalla has a “new” Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rob Pollock OAM, takes over from Cr Anthony Mayne, who served in the position for two years.

Describing Cr Pollock as “new to the role” should be prefaced with the knowledge that he has been a local councillor for 31 years and has previously served as Deputy Mayor for 11.

Over the decades he has chaired and participated in numerous committees and is the current chair for Regional Development Australia Far South Coast.

Cr Pollock says the role will help in advocating for local and regional development projects, such as the Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre at Mackay Park.

“I’m looking forward to strengthening relationships with state and federal agencies and working together with my colleagues to achieve great outcomes, for both Council and regional development perspectives,” he says.

Cr Pollock was elected to the position for a two-year term, defeating Cr Mayne seven votes to two at this weeks meeting.

The position of Mayor is popularly elected in the Eurobodalla Shire, a position Cr Liz Innes holds until 2020.
