Police officer accused of assaulting man in custody found not guilty

A police officer accused of assaulting a man in custody has had all of the charges against him dismissed, clearing him of any claims of wrongdoing.

Kristian Anthony Weston, a senior constable, had pleaded not guilty to two counts of common assault on the first occasion they were heard in court.

The 49 year old from Goulburn was found not guilty on both counts and had them dismissed at the end of a hearing in the Moss Vale Local Court on Monday (28 August).

NSW Police previously said an investigation had begun into the alleged assault of a 40-year-old man who sustained injuries while in police custody at Goulburn on 2 September 2022.

Mr Weston, who was attached to a command in the Southern Region, was issued a future court attendance notice last December.
