From the moment you come up the driveway at 2423 Barry Way in Jindabyne, you can have complete confidence that you’re leaving your worries behind.

When asked to describe the property, owner and director of Henley Property Michael Henley had just two words: incredibly tranquil.

“The property sits at about 1200 metres in altitude, so it gives the serenity of living like you’re on thousands of acres because you do not see any other houses nearby,” Michael says.

“The views are straight over the rolling hills of Barry Way that leads back towards Jindabyne.”

The home was built in the 1930s on a 5-acre block with a north-facing orientation but has all the modern amenities one could want from 21st-century living after an “inside and out” renovation.

The three-bedroom, one-bathroom property also has a separate toilet room from the main bathroom.

Two wood fireplaces, including one located in the kitchen with stone accents, will chase the winter chill away.

A sunroom overlooking the vegetable garden is the perfect place to soak up some vitamin D or sip your morning coffee while enjoying the view.

There are also four fenced paddocks, a solar-powered water pump for the house, and a vegetable garden with a hothouse and fruit trees. And the animals are taken care of as well with a dog house and a chicken coop.

“This is a 5-acre property, so it’s very manageable – especially for people who want to have that rural lifestyle but don’t want to be farmers,” Michael said.

“There’s a lot of local families that would like to move away from town onto something like this property, but also, we’ve seen people relocate from Melbourne, Sydney or wherever else and want this kind of lifestyle.”

The property features two 23,650-litre water tanks and one 10,000-litre water tank, along with a septic tank and three dams.

An open shed for machinery, a double lock-up garage, and a meat shed mean you are unlikely to run out of storage.

The five parking spaces also mean there will be enough space for when family and friends come to visit.

Michael says the main house and other buildings on the property have been done up by previous owners so the new owner can simply move in.

“It’s already been rejuvenated, so you won’t need to come and spend money on things like redoing the bathroom or insulation.

“The property has been renovated and is, literally, ready for you to move into,” he says.

The home is 21 km south of Jindabyne and is an easy drive to Canberra and the South Coast region.

“A big draw of this home is the uniqueness of where it is. It’s unique in being a much older house that has been refurbished and reinvented as a nice, modern-style cottage,” Michael says.

“It would definitely suit someone wanting that real country lifestyle where you’re living on a homestead.”
