Winter is upon us, but there’s still plenty to do in the regions this week, from art to sustainability to live comedy.
Sculpture for Clyde is finishing its 10-day run, there is the Acts of Passion program from Red Door Theatre Company in Moruya, the While the World Waits exhibition is coming to Cowra, a yoga festival is coming to Ulladulla and a yule-themed celebration is kicking off in the Snowy Mountains.
The community is invited to fundraise for the Cancer Council, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council have organised an Environmental Education Expo, there is music in Junee and a comedy show in Tilba looking to get some big laughs.

Sculpture for Clyde

The 10-day sculpture festival is set to conclude for 2023 this weekend. With 114 sculptures across the indoor sculptures, outdoor sculptures and students’ work, there is sure to be something that catches your eye. Keep an eye out for Richard Moffatt’s Weed, which has taken home the $60,000 2023 Acquisitive Award and the Identity Totem Poles by students from Carroll College, who have been awarded the Student Sculpture Prize.
Acts of Passion program
When: 26 May to 3 June, remaining shows at 7 pm only

Catch two one-act plays on the same night with the Act of Passion program from the Red Door Theatre Company – The Ladybirds (by Tony Layton, directed by Jack Spahr) and Curtain Call (by Keith Trezise, directed by Phil Barr).
While the World Waits exhibition
When: 3 June to 2 July, closed on Monday; 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesday to Saturday; 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday

This exhibition from Arts Out West is stopping in Cowra as part of its tour of regional New South Wales. It was inspired by an album by 15 Central West songwriters, who were asked to write a track based on their experiences of 2020. Visual artists were asked to create works inspired by the album. Visitors to the gallery will also be able to see A Lot of Little Nothings by Cowra artist Shani Nottingham, who is also featured in While the World Waits.
Shoalhaven Yoga Festival
When: 3 to 4 June, 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm or 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm (depending on the session)

The Shoalhaven Yoga Festival has yoga classes, workshops from Catherine Mullarvey, Kendell Neighbour, Barron Hanson, Haruka Suzuki, Jaqui Peters and others. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
Yulefest in the Snowy Mountains

Snow might not be a part of winter for all Australians, but this is one way to experience a white winter. The yule celebrations draw from the snowy days of Scandinavian tradition, which was traditionally based around the winter solstice. Throughout June, there are yule dinners to keep you fed and ‘Lillordag Viking Feasts’ to mark the arrival of midweek.

Comedy on Edge

Stand-up comedy, presented by Comedy on Edge, is once again returning to Tilba Valley. Seven comedians from Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom – Kate Dolan, Gavin Scott, Jamal Abdul, Chloe Maddren, Mitch Parry, Tim Renkema, Seizure Kaiser – will take to the stage for a night of belly laughs and dinner from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Sunday
Junee June Jam
When: 4 June, 2 pm to 5 pm

Cost: Free entry with an optional gold coin donation.
Junee June Jam will feature around 40 musicians from the Riverina Concert Band, Riverina Conservatorium of Music Student Concert Band, Junee Town Band and Junee Community Choir for Sunday’s performances. A range of pieces will be performed by the ensembles, before the three bands perform together.
Robyn’s Biggest Morning Tea
When: 4 June, from 11 am

Cost: Attendees are asked to bring a gold coin donation and a plate of something sweet or savoury.
Since Robyn Lyttle and her husband first began hosting Biggest Morning Tea fundraisers in 2015, their events have grown and grown – in 2023, you’re invited to come back and help them raise some money for a good cause. Guests can take part in a raffle, a lucky door prize, music, outdoor games and there will be plenty of yummy things to eat.

Environmental Education Expo

The Environmental Education Expo is set to bring to a close three days of events Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has planned to celebrate World Environment Day; a full list is available online. Council has partnered with the Queanbeyan Hive for a day of stalls, Q&A sessions, activities and presentations.
