Speed limits will change on the Princes Highway and Bawley Point Road at Termeil, with 100km/h speed zones reduced to 80km/h on 11 December, 2020.
A spokesperson for Transport for NSW said the speed zone for Bawley Point Road was reviewed following concerns raised by members of the public.
“The existing 100km/h speed zones will be reduced to 80km/h to make each road and the intersection of them safer for motorists,” said the spokesperson.
“Transport for NSW completed the review in consultation with local council and NSW Police, and determined a speed reduction would address safety issues.”
The speed limit will be changed to 80km/h on the Princes Highway on each side of the Bawley Point Road intersection, from 500m north of the junction to 600m south of it.
A 5.5km section of Bawley Point Road, from the intersection of the Princes Highway to 170m west of Shearwater Crescent in Bawley Point, will also be reduced to 80km/h.
New speed limit signs will be installed on the Princes Highway and Bawley Point Road, with work to replace the existing signs planned to take place on 11 December, between 7 am and 5 pm, with traffic control and a reduced speed limit in place.
Electronic signs will be in place for one week before and after the speed limit reduction to alert road users of the change. Motorists are asked to keep to the displayed speed limit for the safety of everyone.
