A 66-year-old man has been refused bail and will face court in Goulburn today on a number of sexual assault charges involving an 18-year-old German tourist.
Police will allege the man sexually touched the woman on several occasions between 28 September and 18 October 2019.
The alleged offences took place while the woman was staying with the man as part of a ‘farm stay’ program at a rural property in Peelwood, about 90 km north-west of Goulburn.
The woman reported the incidents to Surry Hills Police Area Command earlier this week.
The matter was referred to the Hume Police District and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
At about 1:00 pm yesterday, investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a rural property in Peelwood.
Officers seized computers, mobile phones and electronic storage devices.
The 66-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Crookwell Police Station, where he was later charged with sexual assault and four counts of sexual touching without consent.
Police inquiries are continuing.
