UPDATED 11:00 am: Seventeen positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Southern NSW Local Health District to 8:00 pm yesterday, and one case in Young.
The man, in his 60s, presented at Young District Hospital and has been transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.
The source of the infection is currently under investigation and contact tracers are working to identify anyone he may have come in contact with while infectious.
Since the end of the reporting period, all of the household contacts of the Young case have tested positive and they will be captured in tomorrow’s figures.
Today’s new cases are:
- Five in Yass. Four are linked to existing cases. One is under investigation.
- Three cases in Queanbeyan. Two are linked to known cases and one is under investigation.
- Two cases in Googong, which are linked to known cases.
- Four cases in Batemans Bay, all are linked to the Batemans Bay cluster.
- Three cases in Goulburn, linked to existing cases.
Virus fragments have also been detected in Narooma, Young and Cowra.
There were 1284 cases of community transmission across NSW and 12 deaths to 8:00 pm yesterday.
9:00 am: Health authorities have released a new list of potential COVID-19 exposure sites across southern NSW. People who visited sites in Batemans Bay, Batehaven and Yass have been warned they could be close contacts and should get tested and immediately isolate for 14 days.
The venues of concern are:
- Centrelink Batemans Bay, 9 September, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
- Batehaven Post Office, 10 September, 3.30 pm to 4:00 pm
- Commonwealth Bank, Batemans Bay, 10 September, 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm
- Yass Post Office, 6 September, 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
Southern NSW Local Health District has also released a list of casual contact sites. People who visited these sites at these times must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

Health authorities are asking people who have been at any of these venues to get tested even if they have had a test in recent days.
“If your exposure at the casual contact venue was in the past four days, you must get another test on day five from the date of exposure,” a spokesperson said.
“Wear a mask around others and limit your movements until you get another negative result. You should continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms appear, get tested and isolate again.”
If additional venues are identified through further contact tracing, these will be announced as soon as they are known. Staff working at these venues will be risk assessed by the Public Health Unit and advised of isolation and testing requirements.
Anyone who checked in to a venue of concern during the times listed, using the Service NSW QR app, will be notified by SMS from NSW Health as soon as possible over the next 48 hours.
Everyone in the district should be alert for any symptoms that could signal COVID-19, including headache, nausea, sore throat, runny nose, cough, loss of smell or taste, or fever. If symptoms appear, people must isolate and get tested immediately, and remain isolated until a negative result is received.
