UPDATED, Wednesday, 14 January: A teenage runner who went missing on a remote track in the Snowy Mountains has been found safe and well.
A NSW Police spokesperson said after extensive inquiries, including a multi-agency search involving the SES, NSW Rural Fire Service and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), 17-year-old Bodhi Jackson was found on a walking trail about 30 km away from where he was last seen.
Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim said planning and preparing for your trip into the Alpine area was essential.
“While the Kosciuszko National Park is in a beautiful place to enjoy bushwalking, it can be a dangerous place if you do not plan your trip carefully,” he said.
He said bushwalkers were urged submit trip intention forms to the NPWS as well as have suitable clothing and carry sufficient water and food.
“Always check the weather and tell someone reliable where you’re going and when you intend to return,” he said.
“It is also strongly advised to carry a personal locator beacon (PLB) with you when venturing into the park. You can’t always rely on mobile phone reception.”
