An unvaccinated man’s attempt to enter a hotel in Bungendore in breach of COVID-19 laws has ended with a $1000 fine.
NSW Police said the 25-year-old allegedly entered the hotel after being let in by another person through a side entrance, allowing him to bypass security requirements, on 19 November 2021.
Shortly afterwards, police said the man was seen by hotel staff who requested he provide evidence of vaccination.
He was unable to produce a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or an exemption and was asked to leave. The matter was then reported to police.
On Sunday (21 November), police spoke to him and issued him with a $1000 infringement for breaching public health requirements.
“Police would like to remind the community of the current public health orders that are still in place and the restrictions upon people that have not been double vaccinated or have an exemption,” a police spokesperson said.
“You must be double vaccinated, or have an exemption, to enter a hospitality venue.”
If you go to a venue you must carry evidence of a COVID vaccination with you and produce it for inspection to an authorised officer if requested.
Also, you must check in with the Service NSW app or provide your contact details to the occupier, and follow face mask rules.
People who are fully vaccinated may drink alcohol indoors or outdoors while standing or sitting. Singing and dancing is also allowed for those who are vaccinated.
