Two hospitalised following machete attack – Junee

Two men have been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Junee earlier today (May 14).

About 3 am this morning, officers from Riverina Police District attended a home in Junee following reports of a stabbing.

Police have been told a 34-year-old man attended the home and allegedly struck another man, aged 49, in the head with a machete.

The 34-year-old man also sustained stab wounds after allegedly being struck with the machete by the older man.

The younger man presented to Junee Hospital with lacerations to his abdomen and was transferred to a hospital in Wagga Wagga, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

When police arrived at the scene, the older man was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment to lacerations to his head.

Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. It’s not known if the men are known to each other.

Inquiries are continuing.

Police believe the incident may have been targeted and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
