Organisers of Tumbafest have announced the festival will take place in February this year, reversing their announcement in November 2020 that the festival would be cancelled.
Bendigo Bank Tumbafest will be held on 27-28 February, 2021, at the Creekscape in Tumbarumba, in the NSW Snowy Valleys.
Tumbafest Inc cited the significant easing of COVID-19 event restrictions as the reason for the change of heart and the decision in a committee meeting in early December 2020 which met to reconsider the cancellation of the event.
Organisers say they have been holding off on making any announcements given the current COVID-19 outbreak, and say they are closely monitoring events and will proceed only if it is considered safe to do so.
The committee is in the process of developing an approved COVID-Safe plan for the event, and will proceed subject to COVID-19 restrictions. COVID-19 Safety Plans are comprehensive checklists designed by NSW Health and approved by the Chief Health Officer, providing clear directions on how businesses and organisations should fulfill their obligations under Public Health Orders to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 on their premises.
“The decision to proceed with the 2021 Bendigo Bank Tumbafest was not taken lightly,” said Tumbafest Inc president Andrew Rae. “The festival committee will continue to closely monitor developments and the changing government restrictions to ensure the health and safety of our community and festival fans.
“I strongly believe there will be enormous support for the event given the hardships the community has faced following the 2019-2020 bushfires and COVID-19.
“We are excited that Bendigo Bank and other major sponsors were quick to get onboard with the event again for 2021, highlighting their support of the event and the need for this social activity and the economic boost to both Tumbarumba and the Snowy Valleys region.
“For this year’s event, we are thrilled to bring back Adam Thompson to the festival for the third time, this year with the entire Chocolate Starfish band to headline on the Saturday.
“Headlining on the Sunday will be 2021 Golden Guitar Nominees for Best Group, Hurricane Fall – a great live act and fresh new sound in Australian country music. 2021 is definitely going to be something special.”
Full event details will be announced in the coming weeks, with tickets to go on sale on Wednesday, 13 January, 2021, via the Tumbafest website and through its social media pages.
