As festivals and large-scale events begin to wake up from last year’s hibernation, ART MONTH Sapphire Coast is preparing for a big return.
Ahead of the extravaganza, which is to be held in August, Bega Valley Regional Gallery is asking performers and creatives to discuss their ideas now.
Expressions of interests can come from local artists, performers, dancers and musicians.
Gallery Director Iain Dawson said they also want to hear from anyone who has a great idea for an exhibition, performance or event in August – no matter what it might be.
Live music, an open studio, film night, dance class, cabaret performance, theatre, walking tours, cultural experiences, poetry reading, comedy night or something completely new and innovative – all ideas are welcome.
“ART MONTH Sapphire Coast will bring together and showcase our region’s diverse artistic talent with studio trails, live entertainment, engaging events and exhibitions across the Sapphire Coast.
“We have a wealth of talented artists and performers in the Bega Valley and this is a great opportunity to showcase them to cultural tourists and audiences from across the region,” Mr Dawson said.
Held annually, ART MONTH Sapphire Coast aims to stimulate cultural tourism during what is traditionally a quieter period in the region.
After last year’s event was moved online, tourism providers in the region will benefit from the influx of people into the area over the month.
ART MONTH also provides growth and development opportunities for the region’s artists, performers and musicians, ensuring a strong ongoing future for the creative industries of the far South Coast.
Mr Dawson said there are a number of bursaries open to applicants.
Entry is free and applications close on Friday 21 May 2021. More information, including the terms and conditions for bursaries is available online.
