The regions are busy this week, with live music, sporting events, country festivals, exhibitions, kids’ events and workshops to keep you and your family busy.
Thredbo’s Fun and Fitness Week is all about getting your heart rate up with heaps of sporting events of all types for those looking to exercise in the fresh mountain air.
There’s no end to local community celebrations too, with the Pambula Show coming to town, as well as the Binda Bush Festival.
And families looking to keep kids busy can look forward to LEGO exhibitions, kids workshops and town festivals.

Thredbo Fun & Fitness Week

Looking to get the whole family out of the house and exercising this summer? Head to Thredbo for the Fun and Fitness Week, a celebration of movement and health in the great outdoors with plenty of events to get excited for. There will be something for everyone, with walking, running, swimming, orienteering, tennis, golf, volleyball and even a quiz night.
Thredbo isn’t just for winter and the mountains are just as picturesque during summer. There’s no better way to experience them than through Fun and Fitness Week.

National Treasures, Local Stories at the Yass Valley History Centre
When: 11, 13 and 15 January, from 10 am to 4 pm
Where: Yass Valley History Centre, 247A Comur Street, Yass
Cost: Free entry but donations are welcome.
The Yass Valley History Centre is opening its doors to the public to show off a range of historical treasures with relevance to the local area and the colonial history of the nation as a whole.
Local history is in the spotlight with a telescope and water bottle used by explorer Hamilton Hume, as well as a ruby plate camera used by Alfred Shearsby to record the early history of the valley.
The collection also includes a cheque for 150 pounds to Lady Jane Franklin, given to her by her husband, explorer Sir John Franklin, who went missing on the Franklin Expedition to find the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic.

Narooma Brick Show 2026

Club Narooma hosts the Brick Show this week, with more than 24 tables of custom-built LEGO creations on display for young kids and older fans of everyone’s favourite nostalgic toy.
LEGO creations will cover a broad range of themes and there’s no predicting what amazing examples of construction will grace the table, so don’t miss out this weekend. In addition, there will also be play tables where kids are encouraged to let their creativity run wild and build their own LEGO creations. There will also be LEGO sets and parts for sale on the day from vendors.

Bega District Woodcraft Association 40th Anniversary Exhibition

This free exhibition celebrates 40 years of the Bega District Woodcraft Association, showcasing some of the amazing works that members have poured hours of work into. Members of the association range from beginners to world-class craftsmen. Members of the public curious about woodworking or simply appreciative of beautiful works of art will find a lot to love, with items on display as well as for sale, from toys to household items and even furniture. These handmade goods make for excellent heartfelt gifts for a loved one.

The Pambula Show is here and better than ever, with so many fun events for the whole family to get excited for.
There will be equestrian events including showjumping and open hack, science shows for kids, oyster judging and shucking comps, magic shows, duck races and dog high jump. There will also be a show and shine all day with classic cars on display, as well as food and market stalls, face painting, cartoon portraits, reptile displays, a chance to meet mini highland cows and mechanical bull rides.

Binda Bush Festival

Cost: Free.
Head to the Binda Bush Festival for a full day of fun for the whole family at the cricket ground. There will be live music, market stalls, small dog races, tug-of-war, face painting and a large raffle offering plenty of prizes. There is also more than 500 bucks up for grabs, as well as a barbecue lunch, a coffee van and a cake stall to celebrate.

Red Hot Summer Concert – Batemans Bay

Red Hot Summer is turning up the heat this weekend in Mackay Park with some huge Australian musical acts.
Start the year off on the right foot and enjoy summer on the coast at this outdoor concert headlined by Australian musical icon Paul Kelly, who will be joined by a great line–up of artists, including Jess Hitchcock, The Cat Empire, Kasey Chambers, The Cruel Sea and Missy Higgins.

Are you and your family looking for a fun, creative way to spend the school holidays that is a little off the beaten track? Braidwood Botanicals is offering a hands-on workshop for parents and primary school-aged kids to gain a new insight into the world of edible botany. Attendees will explore the world of edible flowers through simple activities such as pressed flower card making and cupcake decorating. Everything is provided by the class so all you have to do is turn up and enjoy the experience.
You will get to decorate four cupcakes and take them home as well as receive an edible flower guide and a mini potted edible flower to grow in your own home.

Recycled Robots – Kids workshop at the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery

Local creative kids are invited to head to the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery for the Recycled Robots workshop.
