It’s all happening in the regions this week. We’ve got returning classics such as the Cobargo Show, contemporary and classical theatrical performances, drag bingo, races, comedy shows and more. So if you’re looking at the days ahead wondering how you’re going to fill your time, we have you covered, wherever you are.

The Cobargo Show

When: 7 February, 9 am to 6 pm, 8 February, 8:30 am to 9 pm, 9 February, 8 am to 7:30 pm
Where: Cobargo Showground, Bermagui Rd, Cobargo
Cost: Tickets purchased at the gate and vary in price from $5 to $25, children under 12 enter free.

The Cobargo show is in its 126th year and for good reason – it’s one of the most exciting and varied events in the area, with a little something for everyone. Cattle judging, musical acts, shearing, dog high jump and racing competitions, wife-carrying comps, rodeos, equestrian events and car soccer are just some of the main attractions. There’s also the pavilion, hosting exhibits of art, photography, crafts, cake, jams, jellies, produce and preserves. You won’t want to miss out on this Cobargo classic.

Macbeth presented by The Q and Lakespeare

When: 12 and 13 February, 4 and 6 pm
Where: Aunty Louise Brown Park, The Q, 253 Crawford St, Queanbeyan
Cost: Pay what you feel.

Gather at the Q and prepare for a picnic with a twist. Performed in the great outdoors, the unassuming Louise Brown Park will become the wide windswept Scottish Highlands as Macbeth, a victorious lord in service of his king, receives a foul prophecy, one that he succumbs to out of greed and ambition. Macbeth and his wife scheme and plot the downfall of a former ally. Their reward is tragic in a way only Shakespeare could write.

Move Over Mrs Markham

When: 7 February, 7:30 pm, 8 February, 2 pm and 7:30 pm
Where: Moruya Red Door Hall, Cnr Page & Campbell Sts, Moruya
Cost: Tickets from $20 concession.

Hilarity and more than a little bumbling ensue when the conflicting plans of three couples on the same night in the same apartment overlap in the worst way. The various relationships, marriages and flings of the cast come tumbling into each other as each scheme proves more farcical than the last. It promises to be a night of laughs and a little bit of cringing.

BYO drinks and food are welcome for the seated evening shows.

Friday

Kath and Kim Drag Bingo

When: 7 February, 8 to 10:30 pm
Where: Yuin Theatre, Batemans Bay Pavilions, 12 Vesper St, Batemans Bay
Cost: Tickets from $53.50.

Batemans Bay will be graced by the noicest and most fashionable event of the year as Kath and Kim (or their drag doppelgangers) take centre stage and bring some class to the bay. Prada Clutch and friends will host five games of bingo and they’ll even put on a live show for the audience. There is $1000 in cash and prizes and the audience member best dressed as a Kath and Kim character will win a prize.

Saturday

NICA Try-It-Out Day Narooma

When: 8 February, 9 am, 11 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm
Where: Mitchells Ridge Rd, Kianga
Cost: Free.

The National Interscholastic Cycling Association is holding a free try-out day for 12- to 17-year-olds to discover a love for mountain biking they may not know they had. Kids are welcome to come along and try out mountain biking with NICA coaches there to supervise. It’s open to everyone and those without a bike or a helmet can rent one when they register for the event. Whether your kid is a pro looking to meet some other bikers or they’re looking for a new hobby, the NICA Try-It-Out day is a great way to get them outdoors and exercising with other kids.

Braidwood Races

When: 8 February, 11 am
Where: Braidwood Racecourse, Braidwood
Cost: Free.

Head to the Braidwood Racecourse on Saturday for some classic country racing. There are six races throughout the day including the Braidwood Cup and Braidwood Serviceman’s Club Cup, with bookie services for racegoers looking to back their picks with some cash. There will be a full bar and canteen, $3000 worth of prizes and fashion on the field as well as kids’ entertainment. The racecourse is your destination this Saturday for some family fun.

Followed by an afterparty at the Serviceman’s Club.

Twist and Shout with the Williams Brothers

When: 8 February, 2 to 4:30 pm
Where: Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, 163 Auburn Street
Cost: Tickets from $59.90 to $69.90.

The internationally renowned Williams Brothers bring you the best of rock n roll in their show Twist and Shout. If you wish you got to see Elvis in concert, or Chuck Berry, or Jerry Lee Lewis or the Bee Gees, this is your chance. The Williams Brothers will play all the best hits from the 50s and 60s. So if you’re a rock fan who’s been pining to hear some of the classics from a live band of born performers, this is what you’ve been waiting for.

Riverina Comedy Club featuring Carl Donnelly

When: 8 February, doors open at 8 pm, show begins at 8:30 pm
Where: 1 Capper St, Tumut

The Riverina Comedy Club is here to liven up your weekend. Headliner Carl Donnelly has featured on shows like Mock the Week, was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy award and has performed in comedy festivals all around the world. He’s joined by a line-up of talented Aussie comedians. Hosted by the Tumut River Brewing Co.

Cost: Minimum booking of two or more people, ticket price $38.06 per person.

Canberra-based Irish singer-songwriter Inez Hargaden reveals her new self-titled EP with soulful vocals and entrancing guitar melodies at the Tallagandra Hill Winery. It’ll be an evening of great new music from a local musician making waves in the local scene by crafting authentic music about loneliness and connection.

Hosted at the fantastic Tallagandra Hill Winery, a meat/cheese snack box will be available for purchase if you get peckish and of course, local wines are on offer as well as brews.

Barstool Conversations at the Tathra Hotel

Where: Tathra Hotel, 8-12 Bega St, Tathra
Cost: Free.

The first of a series of Barstool Conversations, radio presenter Eddie Williams speaks with the Tathra Hotel’s owner Cliff Wallis and arts leaders Andrew Gray and Lindy Hume. This series of talks will prominently feature Australian theatrical artists as they talk about the art form dearest to them, as well as creative life on the South Coast.
