There’s so much happening around the regions this week, including family events, theatre, community festivals and even an Elvis Presley tribute show.
The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre hosts a night of chaos in God of Carnage, where a meeting to solve a small disagreement between parents becomes a night of mayhem as long-held tensions boil over.
The Bungendore Bites festival is packed with workshops, performances, free face painting for the kids and plenty of locally made delicious food and drink.

God of Carnage at the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre

When two couples meet to talk about a recent incident between their sons on a playground, all seems well as each party tries to resolve differences.
What begins amicably quickly deteriorates from slight discomfort to recriminations, jealousy and overflowing rage.
Drinking, fighting and mayhem ensue as tensions boil over. The initial benign violence of children that prompted the event pales next to the reaction of the adults in this fascinating play that pokes fun at our hypocrisy.

Goulburn Model Expo
When: 30 August, 9 am to 5 pm; 31 August, 9 am to 4 pm
Where: Veolia Stadium, 45 Braidwood Road, Goulburn

The Goulburn Model Expo is on this week, promoting model railway and plastic kit modelling.
The Expo will feature more than 70 trade stands and exhibitors across two full halls at the Veolia Arena. There will be heaps to see and do, with vendors carrying modelling tools, paints, detailed models and more.
Experts on the day will be available to offer tips on methods and how to create amazing models. There will also be a community barbecue with proceeds going to charity.

Bungendore Bites – A Taste of Spring
When: 30 August, 10 am to 9 pm
Where: Mick Sherd Oval, Majara Street, Bungendore

Bungendore Bites is bringing so much to do, taste, savour and enjoy this weekend.
From 10 am to 2 pm, Mick Sherd Oval will host circus workshops, performances, free face painting, craft fun, workshops, competitions and much more.
From 5 pm to 9 pm, Hitparade brings live music under a massive marquee, with a huge variety of food and drinks on offer. Don’t miss out on this community celebration.

How to read a city – Featuring the Acacia Quartet

This immersive literary listening experience presents a combination of Richard Lawson’s classical music paired with the poetry of Elizabeth Walton, bringing together the written word and the magic of a quartet.
Exploring the contradictions of beauty and sadness in the times we live in, this show invites audiences to experience and consider the works of two artists presented with the talents of the Acacia Quartet.

In the shadow of the king – Elvis Tribute Show

Len Connolly brings his Elvis tribute show to the Tumut River Brewing Company, with all the energy and passion that the King demands.
He has performed his show locally, interstate and internationally, bringing timeless ballads and classic rock and roll from the King to the masses.

Tony Jaggers live at the Steampacket Hotel

Tony Jaggers started his music career at 13 and his passion and experience for music show in his solo original music, particularly in the blues/roots genre.
This Sunday he’ll be playing tunes from artists such as Men at Work, James Reyne, Dragon and Hunter, as well as plenty of original tunes.
Head to the Steampacket this weekend for an afternoon of cruisy tunes and cold bevs in the beer garden.

The Paper Escaper

The Paper Escaper is about the relationship between a creator and his creation.
Benny, the protagonist of a pop-up book, dreams of better things but he is under the thumb of “the maker”, the man who has created him and seeks to control his destiny. With the help of an illustrator and a dancing flame, Benny will try his best to defy his predetermined fate and strike out his own path in life and on the page.
Funny, inspiring, with inventive puppetry, physical performance and a fantastic soundtrack, this is a creative and wonderfully told story not to be missed.
