There’s heaps to get excited for this week in the regions – check out our list of all the best events that we’ve found across the area.

Thredbo comes to life as the July Kids Snow Festival begins, bringing a huge schedule of events to look forward to, from s’mores to fireworks, face painting, games and more.

The Q hosts the Queanbeyan Players as they perform The Pirates of Penzance, a comic opera with plenty of laughs and romance.

And at the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, a special musical act brings the iconic sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival screaming back to life.

Art exhibition: A South Coast Selection – Heide Smith

When: 28 June to 3 July, Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm
Where: Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, Corner of Vulcan and Murray streets, Moruya
Cost: Free.

This exhibition of Heide Smith’s photography of the people and places of the South Coast shows off six decades of work. Her photography covers portraiture, landscapes and documentary photography, all with an emphasis on authenticity and human connection.

A deep exploration of the South Coast region, this exhibition is a fascinating view of the beautiful vistas of sand, land and sea that make up the Eurobodalla area.

Fungi Feastival

Fungi Feastival

Where: Various locations across the NSW South Coast

The Fungi Feastival is a month-long extravaganza of art, workshops, book launches, exhibitions, painting, pottery, dinners, cooking classes, film showings, kayak journeys and more. If you can think of an activity, it’s probably on at the Fungi Feastival and the best part is it’s all across the South Coast, from Pambula to Tanja, Moruya, Cobargo, Narooma, Tomakin, Merimbula and more!

The River – Folk horror at the Lieder Theatre

This Australian film tells the story of a rural Australian town where a dark force is at play. A replacement teacher arrives in the remote town of Gomorra after his predecessor goes mad. As he tries to settle into his new home, he finds the isolation to be crushing but there’s something else going on, something he can’t quite place. After meeting the strange people in the town and questioning his own sanity, he wonders at what is really happening in this gothic, supernatural thriller.

This classic, beloved musical comes to the Q, telling the tale of Frederic, a young man apprenticing as a pirate who finds himself locked into decades of servitude due to a trick of his pirate employer. It’s up to Frederic, his new beloved and the pirates’ maid, Ruth, to get him out of his fix.

Performed by the Queanbeyan players, this comic musical is one of the most beloved musicals, bringing swashbuckling adventure, romance and comedy to Queanbeyan, with talented local talent.

Tradies Race Day at the Moruya Jockey Club

Head to the Moruya Jockey Club this Friday for the Tradies Race Day. There will be food from stalls and kiosks, coffee, doughnuts, ice cream, a DJ, fashions on the field and of course, a great schedule of exciting, edge-of-your-seat races.

Support local farmers and producers at the Goulburn Farmers Market, with plenty of vendors and stalls selling locally grown, fresh food and artisanal handmade products, all without the plastic packaging and harmful chemicals of mass-produced food.

Truffle Hunts at the Gulaga Gold

Truffle season is here in earnest and truffle farm Gulaga Gold is giving the public a chance to hunt for their own. This three-hour hunt lets people see the work it takes to secure the delicious delicacy.

This sensational new musical comedy tells the tale of Gladys Berejiklian, former Premier of NSW, as she navigates the Black Summer bushfires and COVID. Her life story is told by a team of musicians and actors as they chronicle her public life, including, of course, her relationship with a bloke called Daryl from Wagga.

Music and lyrics by ABC Radio’s Nick Rheinberger and featuring Tia Wilson as NSW’s leading lady, it’s got big rock songs, ballads, some Armenian matchmaking and musical press conferences.

The Steampacket Hotel hosts Minnie and the Moonrakers for a Sunday session of great music inspired by the music of the 40s and 50s, with a voodoo blues n’ roots rhythm influence.

Thredbo July Kids Snow Festival – Opening Night

The Thredbo July Kids Snow Festival is jam-packed with events running all the way until 20 July.

The opening night (this Thursday) has plenty to get excited for – Lindt s’mores, flare runs, fireworks, family fun, face painting, games and so much more. Celebrate the start of the snow season at Thredbo with two weeks of family fun, opening 3 July.
