Pilgrimage Walk – Yass/Murrumbateman
When: 23 August, 8 am to 5 pm
Where: St Augustine’s Catholic Church, 108 Meehan St, Yass

To celebrate the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year, the Murrumbateman Catholic community is holding a pilgrimage walk from St Augustine’s Church in Yass to the Catholic church hall in Murrumbateman. The route is via the backroads of Gums Lane, Long Rail Gully Road, Dog Trap Road and Isabel Drive. There are four optional distances and start times, with 30 km starting at 8 am, 19 km starting at 11 am, 13 km starting at 1 pm and 6 km starting at 3 pm.
A portaloo will be provided, along with support vehicles, water, fluoro vests and a pilgrim’s passport. Walkers should wear comfortable footwear and clothing, and take rain gear, a daypack, water, lunch and snacks. Minimum age for entry is 15.

Smokey Saturdays featuring Blue Mallee

Blue Mallee is bringing a range of original songs and stories to Smokey Dan’s at Tomakin, making for a special Saturday performance. Pushing the boundaries of indie folk, with a mix of traditional influences and ambient soundscapes, Blue Mallee takes listeners on a musical trip with guitar, harmonica and of course a serious set of pipes.
Entry is free to this family-friendly live-music event, with drinks flowing and the vibes just right in Smokey Dan’s courtyard.

Family history one-on-one session

The Moruya Library is helping to provide one-on-one sessions for those interested in uncovering their family history. Using online resources and helpful tips and tricks, this session at the community’s library gives people the tools to research and discover their roots.
