As the Easter/Anzac Day period approaches things get busier and this year is no exception with plenty of food festivals, kids’ festivals, live music, battles of the bands and more to keep you going. There are events for all as the school holidays roll on, so check out what we’ve found across South East NSW and the Canberra surrounds.

Kids Easter Adventure Festival

Thredbo is set to come to life soon with the Kids Easter Adventure Festival, bringing heaps of exciting events for any and all kids to get excited about.
Astronomy nights, alpine feasts, coaster rides, races, bikes, hikes, games, face painting, arts and crafts, movie nights, bungee trampolines – it’d be easier to list the things they don’t have going on. Check out their website for more details.

Bungendore Harvest Festival

Local food, wine and produce take centre stage at the Bungendore Harvest Festival, with wine tastings, workshops, fundraising events, farm tours and of course market stalls selling crafts and great food. It’s a delicious celebration of everything that the area has to offer.

Dawn Kayak & Coffee with the Birds

Start the weekend off the right way, with a calming trek through the stunning scenery of the Merimbula area by kayak. Adventurers will get a chance to enjoy beautiful natural spaces as well as spot the many birds that call them home, gaining a greater understanding and appreciation for the area.
Outdoorsy people and fitness buffs will get something out of paddling around the stunning Broadwater area.

Ephemeral Festival
When: 12 April, 9 am to 2 pm
Where: Bullara Street, Pambula
Cost: Free entry.
Celebrating Panboola’s unique and inspiring wetland landscape, the Ephemeral Festival invites locals to wander the wetlands and marvel at music, art, crafts, stalls and dance performances that will transform the landscape into an arts centre for a day.
Local artists will also run workshops, inviting curious locals into their process of creation.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the great food and beverages on offer.

I Was Glad: Cathedral Classics. Performance in Goulburn

The Sydney Philharmonic Choir is coming to Goulburn. This 120-voice symphony chorus will perform great hymns and anthems, bringing the best of English cathedral music to one of Goulburn’s most beloved cultural icons, St Peter & Paul’s greenstone cathedral.
It’s a great opportunity for those looking to rediscover the beauty and transcendence of old-fashioned choral music or hoping to prepare themselves mentally and spiritually for the holy period of Easter with the music of Henry Gardiner, Howard Goodall, Vivaldi and more.

Currents: Battle of the Bands 2025
When: 12 April, 4 to 9 pm
Where: RSL Memorial Hall, 11 Page Street, Moruya

Youth from 12 and up are invited for a night of live music from local bands battling it out to be the finalist in the annual Currents: Battle of the Bands competition. Solo artists, bands and DJs will duke it out with everything they can throw at each other (musically), showcasing the great talent of young people in the local area.
The Battle of the Bands is a strictly drug and alcohol-free event that brings young people from the area together to enjoy themselves and each other’s company, with pizza all night, for free.

The Australian Bush Balladeers Show

A great night of Aussie bush music and ballads comes to the Cooma Car Club, celebrating the unique heritage of the bush music of Australia with artists Ernie Constance, Danny Bowden and John and Christine Smith.

The Jingili Song Project live at Tumut River Brewing Co
When: 12 April, 7 to 11 pm
Where: Tumut River Brewing Co, 1-5 Capper St, Tumut
Cost: Free.
The Jingili Song Project is a collaboration between Indigenous singer-songwriter Stuart Joel Nuggett and country musicians David Garnham & the Reasons, bringing great music to the nation, and shining a light on the endangered Jingulu language.
Through song and sound, the artists have combined to create unique music that only Australia could produce, with a blend of outlaw country and folk, some of which is sung in English and some in Jingulu.

Two if by Sea – Duo Cello recital

Trent Arkleysmith and Rachel Johnston create a captivating original and traditional musical mix, drawing on Celtic, Scandinavian, Eastern European and American styles.
Their skills cover a range of instruments – guitars, cellos, mandolins and the voice – however this recital will cover the instrument that they enjoy most, the cello.
The pair will create beautiful harmonies and lift the spirits of all attendees for one night only in Braidwood.
