There’s lots to see and do this week in the regions, so we’ve put together a list of all the best events, with something for everyone.
Goulburn Brewery hosts its Oktoberfest celebration and you can expect live music, special beer, great food and competitions to mark the occasion.
Braidwood’s Anglican Church hosts a special orchestral concert about hope and optimism in the wake of war.
And the story of one of history’s most fascinating women – an opera singer who ran away with a musician, travelled around the world and performed for anyone from royalty to rebels – comes to the Goulburn Hume Conservatorium.

Photo exhibition: Through the lens with Marg Craig

Celebrate Bird Week with a photo exhibition from self-taught nature photographer Marg Craig, who was inspired by the beauty of Flinders Island to capture the magic of nature.
This exhibition shows off the best of her photography, capturing local birds and wildlife. Prints of her pictures will be available for sale, with 10 per cent of proceeds to be donated to BirdLife Australia.

Sunrise Yoga – Moruya Heads

Sunrise Movement Practise Yoga is on at the Moruya Heads lookout this Saturday. It’s open for all levels, from newbie to yogi. Bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water, and if you like, bring some swimmers for an early morning dip in the ocean.
Yoga is a great way to centre yourself and recalibrate your mind and body after a long week of work and there’s no better place to do that than in the great outdoors, enjoying the first rays of the sun on the headland while the waves crash against the beach.

Oktoberfest Beer Festival

Celebrate Oktoberfest at the Goulburn Brewery, the oldest brewery on the mainland, with three limited edition German-inspired beers to mark the occasion, in addition to seven classic beers on tap. Entry includes an exclusive, branded stein to take home as a souvenir and the first fill of beer is free. There will be live music, traditional German food, prizes given out for the best German dresser, a keg-tapping ceremony, as well as a whole lot of assorted fun and entertainment.

Llewellyn Choir and Sinfonia perform Durufle’s Requiem

The Llewellyn Choir of Canberra is coming to Braidwood for a special performance of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, as part of Braidwood’s Concert Series.
Regarded as one of the finest works of 20th-century religious music, Duruflé’s Requiem was composed in 1947 in the wake of the Second World War and has since become associated with calls for peace.
Fundamentally a composition about hope and optimism, this performance is set to be a very special exploration of music in one of Braidwood’s most beautiful spaces, St Andrew’s Anglican Church.

Blamey Street Swings Bond: Shaken Not Stirred – Music from the Bond films

Where: The B – Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, 253 Crawford Street

This performance from maestro Ian McLean and his 20-piece jazz orchestra is all about Bond. Expect a blend of classic and reinterpreted songs from Bond films with guest vocalist Jared Newall, Australian jazz singer Leisa Keen and Ashleigh Harris.
Some of the best songs from Bond movies, old and new, will be played, covering many genres and eras, with a jazz twist.

Local musical duo Amy & I are coming to the Steampacket Hotel on Sunday afternoon to provide the perfect laid-back tunes for a Sunday spent in the beer garden.
Their acoustic, folk feel covers crowd favourites as well as original tunes played on guitar, keyboard and percussion.

Opera’s Bad Girl – Theatrical Experience

Opera’s Bad Girl tells the story of Anna Bishop, a Victorian-era rebel who lived fast, performed wonderfully and did things that no woman at the time dared do. Bishop was a scandal in her time, never out of the spotlight, running off with a harpist and exploring the world on a globe-trotting adventure that included everything from tiger attacks to shipwrecks, hostage-takings and war zones.
No matter the cataclysm, she sang the whole way through, to everyone from rebels to royalty. Her amazing life comes to the stage with an amazing performance from Saralouise Owens.
Don’t miss out as the life of an extraordinary woman comes hurtling back to life.
