Temora is gearing up for and eagerly awaits the arrival of an unprecedented event set to captivate residents of all ages.
The celebrated multiple Golden Guitar winner and exceptional horseman Tom Curtain is bringing his acclaimed Outback Show, Katherine Outback Experience, to the Riverina as part of his Why We Live Out Here tour.
The Why We Live Out Here tour will be held at Temora Showground on 17 February.
Event organiser Debbie Coddington said the event was not to be missed.
“It is certainly something out of this world and the talent that you will see and experience will be etched in your minds forever,” said Debbie.
“Tom is passionate about bringing his show to Temora and the communities as we are often overlooked on the entertainment trail.
“Proceeds will help our local community’s Open Minds Brighter Futures and the historic Bectric Hall.”
Debbie said Tom was coming to Temora to provide entertainment and raise awareness of anti-bullying as the musician is the official ambassador of Dolly’s Dream.
“Moved by the tragic passing of Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett, who took her young life after being relentlessly cyber-bullied, Tom put pen to paper and released the single Speak with Sara Storer,” said Debbie.
“To date, over $50,000 has been raised by the Katherine Outback Experience and Outback Productions through the sale of the song and branded shirts. These donations are used to provide useful and powerful tools for schools, children and family members to fight online bullying.”
Following the success of his national tours, Tom has hit the road again with the horses and dogs from Katherine Outback Experience and fellow musicians Chris Matthews, Melissa Fraser, and Laura Frank.
The show includes the one-hour Outback Show with horses, working dogs, goats and one and a half hours of live music.
Tom’s latest album, Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us Now is a mid-tempo slow burner and the title track to his recently released fifth studio album.
The highly anticipated album hit number one on the iTunes Country Album Chart thanks to its lead single Why We Live Out Here. The single reached No. 1 on the Country Tracks Top 40 Airplay Chart and remained in the mix for more than nine months.
Event goers are encouraged to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets. Food and drinks will be available to purchase. There will be an ice-cream van and a coffee van on-site.
Proceeds from the canteen will go towards the upkeep of the Bectric Hall, the last standing pise (mud) hall in Australia.
The Why We Live Out Here Tour is a family-friendly event and will be held at the Temora Showground on 17 February from 6 to 8:30 pm. Gates will open at 5 pm.
