A Telstra outage has knocked out thousands of people’s phone and internet in southern and southeastern NSW.
According to Telstra’s website, the issue affected a range of services on Wednesday afternoon (13 August).
The company also said a “technical issue” was causing outages to people’s phone and internet services.
More than 100,000 customers of Telstra’s mobile, NBN, ADSL and PSTN services were understood to be involved.
In a statement to Region, a Telstra spokesperson said an on-site power issue had caused the outages.
“Services have been coming back online since 1:45 pm and are now mostly restored. We are working on full restoration for a small number of fixed services.
“Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.”
Businesses and residents took to social media to discuss the issue.
One person asked if others’ service had “s–t the bed”, while another said their service was “coming up as SOS or No Service” on their phone.
Greenwell Point Bowling and Sports Club, in the state’s Shoalhaven region, was among those affected.
The club said it could only take cash and its ATM was unavailable.
More to come.
