The NSW Government is promising boaters safer and easier access to Lake Jindabyne, with the ribbon cut on $1.3 million in upgrades to the lake’s boat ramp access road.
Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro says, “When existing infrastructure is improved the community benefits as a whole.”
“We know already how valuable Lake Jindabyne is to the tourism of this region. This boat ramp upgrade will be an asset to the community of Jindabyne”
The project was funded through a $650,000 contribution from the NSW Government, $250,000 from Snowy Hydro Ltd and $163,000 from Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor John Rooney says the upgrade is a win for the local boating community and visitors who travel to Lake Jindabyne for its well-known fishing.
“Local residents and visitors will now be able to access the lake safely and efficiently, and do all of the recreational boating activities they enjoy,” Cr Rooney says.
Snowy Hydro Chief Executive Officer Paul Broad says the improved access road will further enhance Lake Jindabyne’s appeal.
“Snowy Hydro has been a proud supporter and member of the local community for almost 70 years and many Snowy staff and their families live in Jindabyne,” he says.
“Lake Jindabyne was built as part of the Snowy Scheme in the 1960s and it’s a fantastic attraction for the region.”
