UPDATE: Police arrest Goulburn prison escapee Ryan Wennekes

UPDATE 19 July, 10:00 am: Police have charged the minimum-security inmate who escaped from a correctional facility in Goulburn around 1:30 pm on Thursday, 15 July.

Police officers found 29-year-old Ryan Wennekes waiting for a train at Goulburn Railway Station on Friday, 16 July.

Mr Wennekes was taken to Goulburn Police Station and charged with three offences, including escaping from custody, attempting to unlawfully take a motor vehicle with a person in it and assault with intent to take/drive the motor vehicle.

The man was refused bail and due to appear at Goulburn Local Court later that day.

15 July, 4:00 pm: NSW Police have reported that a prisoner escaped from a correctional facility in Goulburn at around 1:30 pm today (15 July).

The prisoner, 29-year-old Ryan Wennekes, is a minimum-security inmate.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180 cm tall with a thin build, fair complexion and brown hair.

He was last seen near the Old Mulwaree Bridge, Goulburn.

Police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Wennekes to come forward.

However, police are also warning members of the public not to approach the man but to instead call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
