The tiny NSW South Coast village of Potato Point was the unlikely scene of an alleged home invasion on the night of Monday, 7 June.

With a population of around 135, the coastal village is surrounded by Eurobodalla National Park and rarely hits the headlines.

That changed at about 7:50 pm on Monday night when police were told two men approached the front door of a home on Long Point Street, Potato Point.

The sole occupant – a 63-year-old man – refused to open the door before the two men allegedly smashed the door and entered.

The homeowner ran from the house and hid in the backyard as the pair ransacked the home.

It is believed they stole his wallet, cash and prescription medication.

The man was not physically injured.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District were notified and have commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, to contact Narooma Police on 02 4479 3500, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
