Police have asked for the public’s help as they investigate an alleged attempted robbery in southern NSW.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the alleged incident happened at about 10 pm on 20 July.
Police were called to Crisp Street in Cooma, following reports of an attempted robbery.
When officers attached to Monaro Police District responded, they were told a 21-year-old man was walking home when a car allegedly pulled up next to him and the driver allegedly demanded he handed over his wallet.
The man alleged to police he was struck on the cheek when he refused, with what he believed was a knife.
NSW Ambulance treated the man for injuries to his face before transporting him to Cooma Hospital.
The police spokesperson said the alleged would-be robber was driving a white Toyota Camry.
“The man is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, about 40 years old, slender build, with a black goatee and wearing a red plain hoodie and cargo pants,” they said.
Police have also released CCTV footage of two cars, which they allege were seen in the vicinity around the time of the alleged incident and may be able to help with their investigations.
Both are described as being silver SUVs, though the second car had roof racks or a roof pod.
