Producers are searching for current or former police officers and paramedics living in Canberra, Yass or Goulburn to act as real-life extras in the background of an advert for an unnamed Australian insurance company.

A McGregor Casting spokesperson said the director typically works on documentaries and enjoys working with ‘real people’.

“By hiring real-life police officers and paramedics, the director can tap into their natural understanding of procedure and doesn’t have to give much direction,” the spokesperson said.

“The director can, for example, ask the extra to answer a call as they normally would at work.”

Filming will take place about an hour from Goulburn over one to two days between 2 and 3 June.

Extras will receive $388 per day and don’t need any previous acting experience but must apply soon as submissions close on Friday, 21 May.

Extras won’t be filmed in their uniform and will be provided with a costume.

Anyone living within an hour of Goulburn can apply.

To apply, complete the form on McGregor Casting’s website and attach a recent picture of your face and a long body shot.
