A man is dead and another is under police guard after a fight west of Yass this morning.
Emergency services were called to a property on Glenroy Road at Good Hope, 20 km south-west of Yass, at about 2:45 am this morning (13 January), and found a man suffering a stab wound. He died at the scene.
A second man was found nearby also suffering stab wounds. He has been taken to Canberra Hospital where he remains under police guard.
A crime scene has been established and investigations are underway by detectives attached to The Hume Police District.
A knife has been located and will be taken for forensic examination.
It’s understood the men were known to each other and both are believed to be aged in their 30s.
Hume Police District Commander Superintendent Chris Schilt said officers and emergency services faced a horrific scene when they arrived.
“At this stage, early in the investigation, we don’t believe anyone else was present at the house,” Superintendent Schilt said.
“We are speaking to witnesses, trying to get all of the details of the callers, anyone who may have heard or known anything, and we always encourage people with information to contact Crime Stoppers.”
