A former police officer from NSW has been accused of selling drugs in Canberra.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Migg in January 2024 to investigate allegations of drug use and supply in the ACT.
This investigation resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old man around 10 pm on 4 May 2024 at a licensed premises in Hobart Place, Canberra, for allegedly supplying a prohibited drug.
He was a police officer attached to a command in the NSW Southern Region at the time.
The spokesperson said as he was arrested and the offences are alleged to have occurred in the ACT, he was charged by the Australian Federal Police with the Commonwealth offence of trafficking in a controlled drug.
The summons for the charge was served to his lawyers on Tuesday (13 August).
“The matter will be heard in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday 16 September 2024,” the police spokesperson said.
“The man is no longer employed by the NSW Police Force.”
