The case against the NSW South Coast man accused of killing three people in a crash south of Goulburn has been heard in court for the first time.
Lachlan Anthony Stuckey, a 22-year-old from North Nowra, had been excused from facing the Goulburn Local Court in person on Wednesday (9 October) when the matter was heard.
He faces three counts of negligent driving occasioning death and one count of driving while suspended.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to the intersection of Bungendore and Collector roads at Tarago, about 40 km south of Goulburn, around 1 pm on 28 July, 2024.
There had been reports a motor vehicle had left the road, rolled and come to rest on its roof.
Tragically, police arrived to find three passengers dead at the scene. These were a 20-year-old man and two women, aged 18 and 20.
It is alleged Mr Stuckey, then aged 21, was able to get out of the vehicle by himself and was taken to Canberra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He also underwent mandatory testing.
“Inquires established that the driver was the holder of a suspended licence,” police alleged.
Mr Stuckey went to the Nowra Police Station in August where he was arrested, charged then granted bail.
In court on Wednesday, the matter was adjourned to 20 November at Goulburn for a mention and Mr Stuckey’s bail was continued.
He was also excused from attending court in person if he is legally represented.
