Nine things to do in the region this week (10 – 16 June)

There will be plenty to do in the regions this week, especially if you’re keen on comedy, live music, festivals and markets.

On Friday, Jason Owen will be performing live in Nelligen and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow will come to Goulburn.

On Saturday, the Frankie Valli and The Beach Boys Show will hit Queanbeyan, the Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Tribute Show will take place in Goulburn and Ash Grunwald will perform live at the Tilba Valley Winery and Ale House in Narooma.

To end the week, on Sunday there will be a market in Bungendore, the weekly Sunday breakfast in Bungonia and Klaus Tietz will perform live in Tilba.

And next Thursday, the weekly Riverina Producers Market returns for anyone who likes their produce local.

One of Australia’s most popular country artists and former runner up on The X Factor in 2012 Jason Owen is en route to town. Having grown up in Albert NSW and entertained audiences from all around the country including at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, CMC Rocks the Hunter and the ACE Awards, Jason will be performing in Nelligen this Friday night. He will be performing hits from his latest album Jason Owen Sings John Denver: The Acoustic Sessions which debuted at number one on the Aria Country Music Charts in May last year.

Get ready Goulburn – The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is hitting the highway to deliver the freshest and funniest stand-up, sketch, satire, silliness and song from the 2022 Comedy Festival this Friday night. Running for 24 years, the Roadshow has presented a hilarious line-up of Australian stars and talented comedic newcomers to Australians from far and wide.

Two of the most exciting harmony bands in pop music history, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and The Beach Boys, will come together for one fantastic show at Bicentennial Hall in Queanbeyan this weekend. The show will combine five talented musicians to deliver hit after hit with excellent vocals and choreographed routines guaranteed to entertain.

Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Dreams Tribute Show

After being postponed last year, the Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks Dreams Tribute Show will be brought to you live at the Astor Hotel Motel in Goulburn this weekend. Audiences will get to re-live one of the legendary bands of the 70s and 80s. This performance will feature a talented group of musicians dedicated to bringing that Fleetwood sound to the stage with great harmonies, big guitar leads, and many iconic songs.

Ash Grunwald

One of Australia’s most successful blues musicians, Ash Grunwald will come to Narooma this Saturday. He has had six top 50 albums and two APRA Awards, been nominated for five ARIA awards, four AIR Awards and was named Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards in 2014. He has now decided to take his music home and tour around the region, including a free performance at Tilba Valley Winery and Alehouse.

The Market at Bungendore

The Market in Bungendore will return this Sunday. Shop or browse local produce, products, art and crafts, clothing, general stalls and more. If you’re feeling peckish, a light lunch and great coffee will be available from the kitchen.

Bungonia Sunday Breakfast

When: Sunday 12 June, 9 am – 11 am
Where: Bungonia Community Hall, 42 King Street, Bungonia
Cost: Free entry.

This Sunday the Bungonia Cafe, run by the Bungonia Progress Association and other local volunteers, will host a not-for-profit breakfast with all funds going towards keeping the community hall open. Expect delicious country cooking at bargain prices including an English big breakfast for $9, bacon and egg roll for $5, pancakes with maple syrup, cream, jam and butter for $4 and barista coffee for $4.

Sunday Arvo Session – Klaus Tietz

Where: Dromedary Hotel, 14 Bate Street, Central Tilba
Cost: Free entry.

If you’re looking for a way to relax and unwind this weekend, head to the Dromedary Hotel in Central Tilba for an afternoon of music by a Snowy Mountains-born musician. Klaus Tietz will be bringing his unique style of blues music combined with a touch of country, bluegrass and jazzy tones to a free special performance.

Producers themselves run the Riverina Producers Market to connect with people who love good food. Browse a variety of stalls selling fresh and prepared foods, food-related products and complementary homewares. Foodies will pick up quality meat, fruit, vegetables, cheeses, bread, honey, jams, berries, pickles, sweet treats, chocolates and plenty more.
