There’s lots to do in the regions this week, especially if you’re a fan of festivals, live music and exploring.

Kicking off the weekend, the two-day 4WD Camping and Outdoor Expo will cater to all your adventure needs, and Cowra’s Festival of International Understanding will offer fun for the entire family all weekend.

Goulburn will be a hive of activity on Saturday, including a magician at a cocktail party fundraiser, the Cathedral Community & Craft Markets, and the Goulburn Parkrun.

There’s also a wind farm tour at Melliodora Park near Collector and the Heart 2 Heart High Vibes Festival in Jerrabomberra.

Sunday welcomes Dan Challis performing his live folk music at the Dromedary Hotel in Tilba and the Auto Italia car show in Queanbeyan to end the week.

Queanbeyan 4WD Camping & Outdoor Expo

When: Saturday 2 April and Sunday 3 April, 9 am to 4 pm
Where: Queanbeyan Showground, Glebe Ave, Queanbeyan NSW
Cost: Tickets $5 (ages five to 15) and $15 (ages 16 and above) and can be purchased here.

The annual 4WD Camping & Outdoor Expo is back and will be held at the Queanbeyan Showground for the first time. This event runs across two days, offering plenty of fun for the whole family. There will be over 150 exhibitors featuring car accessories, all things camping and caravanning and plenty of food and drinks to keep you fueled up throughout the day.

Cowra Festival of International Understanding

The Cowra Festival of International Understanding started on Sunday 27 March and will be running until – Sunday 3 April, showcasing a variety of events for the whole community. This festival will feature many amazing cultures, backgrounds, dance performances, kids’ amusements and more.

Saturday’s events kick off with a tree-planting ceremony at 11 am at Brougham Park, a Cowra peace bell ringing at 2:45 pm and a parade at 3 pm. There will be a carnival by the river at Bryant Park to end the evening.

Sunday will feature more than 40 market stalls, kids’ amusements and rides, a bbq, games, duck races, competitions and memorable performances, including Cowra’s Got Talent.

This Saturday, the Goulburn Workers Club will be holding a fundraiser for a neurological specialist Parkinson’s nurse in Goulburn. The night will feature a dinner, a 45-minute show from Sydney illusionist and magician Jonas Jost, a fancy mask competition, raffles and more. Booking is essential and tickets are $70 each, which includes dinner, two drinks and the entertainment.

This Saturday, the Poile family in Collector and the Australian Conservation Foundation will be conducting three separate mini-tours of Melliodora Park. The park is a 450-ha farm near Collector that produces sheep, wool and honey and actively protects and enhances native flora and fauna. This is a great little getaway for all families to visit the wind farm and take in the scenic views.

The monthly St Saviour’s Cathedral Community and Craft Markets return this Saturday, held in the Cathedral hall. Stallholders will be selling craft items, garden equipment, clothes, books, produce, tools, furniture, toys, plants and more, all at low prices. There will also be refreshments available throughout the day.

The weekly Goulburn parkrun is back this Saturday, inviting families, friends and dogs to join the community-based run. People of all ages are invited to participate in the timed 5 km walk, jog or run. This event is entirely organised by volunteers and is the perfect way to start your weekend.

Calling all car-lovers, Auto Italia is back! Auto Italia is an annual showcase held around Australia every year and this weekend it returns to Queanbeyan. Featuring hundreds of Italian-designed cars, motorbikes and scooters, it showcases Italian motoring history and its ongoing influence on the world.

Fashionistas are advised to bring their a-game to be in the running for the ‘Frock Up, Vintage Style’ best-dressed award – winner gets Prosecco. Bellissima!

Sunday Arvo Session – Dan Challis

Back by popular demand, South Coast singer and songwriter Dan Challis returns to Tilba at the Dromedary Hotel this weekend to perform his signature acoustic folk music that tells a story and reflects his life experiences. Dan has achieved a fanbase in both Australia and North America, where he has lived for the past four years. Now back on Australia’s South Coast, Dan will be performing at the Dromedary Hotel’s first Sunday Arvo music session, inviting any folk lovers from around the region to come along and watch.
