The award-winning and picturesque Nimbo Fork Lodge, home of one of the nationally renowned Three Blue Ducks restaurants, is officially on the market.
The 96-acre property is set in the foothills of the Kosciusko National Park between Tumut River and Nimbo Creek, and its owners describe it as “a flawless combination of natural raw beauty, luxury and tradition that guarantees a truly memorable experience”.
The lodge is a world-class tourist destination, luring visitors with its natural beauty and fly-fishing facilities.
Purchased by Josh and Sophie Walsh in 2018, it has been renovated and refurbished in the years since.
Mr Walsh said it was a difficult decision to sell but he and his wife were excited by the opportunities moving forward.
“It’s been a two-month venture getting it into a saleable position, and it’s been good,” Mr Walsh said.
“It’s exciting. We’ve got some other opportunities with our other business, and I guess our goal was to build the regional footprint of Nimbo … we’ve sort of achieved everything we wanted to achieve.”
Mr Walsh said taking the business from a start-up to a sustainable business was a significant source of pride ahead of the sale.
“We feel very satisfied with the position that Nimbo is in, and I guess the demand for that regional experiential type of accommodation stays,” said Mr Walsh.
“It’s been great for [attracting] … intrastate and interstate travel.
“Also the introduction of the Three Blue Ducks has really showcased what our region, in particular the Snowy Mountains, and the Riverina and South West Slopes has to offer.”
Since the business went on the market, several parties have expressed interest, but Mr Walsh vowed that it would not be a “highest bidder scenario”.
“It’s fantastic, and I guess it’s a change of the baton, so to speak,” he said. “We want to put it into really good hands who are going to continue to support and have that regional focus. That’s our number one priority.
“It’s going to be about who is going to drive it in the best way that is going to support the locals and is going to support all the people that rely on Nimbo doing what it does.”
HTL Property are selling the property, and managing director Andrew Jolliffe expects strong interest due to the increased demand for regional travel experiences and the “world-class” facilities on offer at Nimbo.
“Underwritten by years of robust revenue, the facilities present immaculately, and the platform to expand upon the existing prosperous business is both patent and exciting,” Mr Jolliffe said.
“In Nimbo, there really is a plug and play opportunity for a purchaser looking to add a unique tourism offering to their investment portfolio.”
The Nimbo Fork Lodge sale will be held via an internal expression of interest campaign concluding 24 February. Enquiries can be submitted on the HTL Property website.
