Buskers performing on the foreshore, live canvas mural painting and blues musicians playing on a boat cruising by – there’s definitely something different in the air at the Bay.
Over the past few weekends, the Clyde River Waterfront has been transformed into an area abuzz with energy.
This coming weekend will be no different with Foreshore Tunes from Simon Harker on Saturday morning and Amanda Hancock performing in the afternoon.
A temporary frame has also been installed where visitors can strike a pose with the iconic bridge perfectly placed in the background.
Eurobodalla Council’s economic development and place activation manager Teresa Lever said she was pleased to see the Clyde River Waterfront being put to use.
“It’s an incredible asset for the Bay as it’s beautifully presented – but it is currently lacking a purpose,” she said.
“What we’re trying to do with these trials is give people a reason to get down to the waterfront – either through turning it into an events space or sports arena, and even simply trialling different types of seating to improve dining options,” said Ms Lever.
Recent initiatives saw the Clyde Street car parks repurposed as a pop-up basketball court and skate rink.
Temporary dining pods were also installed in the area in response to feedback that there were not enough spaces to eat.
The initiatives were funded through the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces program.
Another $465,000 will be used to improve linkages for pedestrians this year as well as street furniture, lighting, art, landscaping and more.
