New COVID-19 cases in Queanbeyan, Snowy Monaro and Eurobodalla

Almost 95 per cent of the eligible population in the Eurobodalla Shire Council area has received their first vaccination, with 66.2 percent fully vaccinated.

The milestone comes as the LGA records just one new case of COVID-19 – a person in Dalmeny – however the source of the infection is still under investigation.

Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has been notified of 19 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday.

Of the 19 new cases:

  • Eight are in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region. Two are linked to known cases. (One is in Queanbeyan, two are in Karabar, one is in Crestwood, four are in Jerrabomberra).
  • 10 are in the Snowy Monaro region. Three are linked to known cases. Seven cases are in Jindabyne and three are in Cooma.
  • One is in the Eurobodalla.

This brings the total cases in SNSWLHD to 290 since the start of the current outbreak in June.

There are currently 109 active cases of COVID-19 in Queanbeyan and surrounding suburbs, 53 in Goulburn, 42 in the Snowy Monaro, 34 in Eurobodalla, 13 in Yass and surrounds, and three in the Bega Valley.

Vaccinations in the Bega Valley Shire have hit 89 per cent first dose and 64 per cent fully vaccinated, while the Snowy Monaro Regional Council area has 83.7 per cent with the first dose and 54.1 per cent fully vaccinated.

Queanbeyan-Palerang is still lagging behind the rest of the region, with 81.7 per cent of the eligible population having received their first vaccination and 53.2 per cent fully protected. Goulburn has 82.3 per cent with their first dose and 52.6 per cent fully vaccinated, while in the Yass Valley 87.1 per cent have had their first dose and 56.7 per cent are fully protected.

The Hilltops LGA, in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, has 91.3 per cent of eligible people with their first jab and 59.9 per cent fully vaccinated.

The MLHD has reported just one infection today. The case has a residential address in Federation Local Government Area but was not tested in the district. Investigations into the case are continuing.

This brings the total number of cases in Federation LGA to one, Edward River LGA to three, Griffith LGA to one, Hilltops LGA to 25 and Albury LGA to 8 with a total of 38 cases in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.

NSW has reported 608 new cases and seven deaths. There are currently 190 patients in ICU.
