Snowy Monaro Regional Council is supporting Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week with a series of pop-up information displays throughout the region.

National Recycling Week runs from Monday, November 11 to Sunday, November 17. The focus of this year’s event is to tackle the most common recycling myths.

Council’s Resource and Waste Education Officers will help you learn more about common recycling habits, demonstrate techniques to improve your habits and assist you in reducing your overall waste.

Displays will be held at:

JINDABYNE RECYCLE RIGHT POP-UP STALL
Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre Courtyard
Tuesday, November 12, 10 am – 4 pm

BOMBALA RECYCLE RIGHT POP-UP STALL
Maybe Street in front of IGA
Monday, November 18, 10 am – 3 pm

Snowy Monaro residents can also participate in Planet Ark’s Buy It Back Day on Saturday, November 16, a day that encourages consumers to buy second hand or buy products made from recycled materials.

Meantime, still on waste and recycling, Council has announced extended operating hours at the Cooma and Jindabyne landfill sites due to increased patronage at each site.

The new operating hours commenced on November 4:

COOMA LANDFILL
Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (Commercial waste acceptance ends at 4:00 pm)
Saturday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

JINDABYNE LANDFILL
Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (Commercial waste acceptance ends at 4:00 pm)
Saturday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

There are no changes to weekend operating hours at either site.

The change in opening hours will also allow Council to meet the operational requirements of the NSW EPA Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
