Police have charged a man with murder following the discovery of an older man’s body in Goulburn this week.

Officers were called to a home in Cathcart Street over a concern for welfare around 8 am on Friday (22 August), a NSW Police spokesperson said.

They arrived to find a 55-year-old man dead at the scene. Police say he had significant facial injuries.

“A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police spokesperson said.

That evening, police arrested a 24-year-old man in View Street, Goulburn, and charged him with murder.

He was refused bail and was scheduled to face Parramatta Local Court on Saturday (23 August).

“A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner,” the police spokesperson said.
