On Saturday (November 23) Moruya’s Riverside Park was filled with young people who had a message – domestic violence is not tolerated here.
With funding available for a youth event, the Eurobodalla Youth Committee chose a Colour Run. Working with the Eurobodalla Domestic Violence Committee, the event was aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence.
The Color Run is also known as ‘the Happiest 5K on the Planet,’ and is now the largest running series in the world having been experienced by over 6 million runners in over 35 countries.

On the run, marshals squirt coloured chalk powders on the runners, with super soaker water guns adding to the artistic appeal.
Entrants can run, walk or stroll the five kilometre track and be immersed in the colours of the rainbow for a good cause. Registration includes a free t-shirt and prizes for the fastest and best-dressed individual or team in kids and adult categories.
The fastest on the day was Mark Lavender, from Broulee, who completed the two laps in under 20 minutes.

Many of the students who took part are also participants in the ‘Love Bites’ education program that operates in five Eurobodalla high schools.
Love Bites teaches healthy relationship practices and gives girls and boys tools to stand up to and deal with domestic violence and sexual assault and how students can support their friends.

Money raised from ticket sales will be donated to the Eurobodalla Domestic Violence Committee so they can continue to run programs and services to support victims of domestic violence locally.
