Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has been notified of 20 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday – most worryingly, only two linked to known cases.

Twelve of the new cases are in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region, with two linked to known cases, while all eight in the Goulburn Mulwaree area are under investigation.

There were no new cases recorded in the Eurobodalla or Snowy Mountains, and no sewage detection in the region.

There have been seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 8 pm yesterday. Six of the cases are in the Hilltops Local Government Area and one case is in the Griffith LGA. The Hilltops cases are household contacts of a previously reported case and are in home isolation.

These new cases bring the total number of cases to 33 cases in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.

MLHD is also working with VISY management following a contained exposure at the VISY Tumut site. The person is an essential worker who undergoes regular routine testing. They are now isolating outside of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

“We thank VISY for having a COVID safety plan in place and their proactive management of the exposure,” a spokesperson said.

“Additional testing will be available at the Tumut Hospital today Friday 1 October through to Monday 4 October from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.”

NSW recorded 864 new cases of COVID-19 in the current reporting period, and 15 deaths.
