Three kilometres of improvements, worth $480,000 and funded by the Federal Government Blackspot Program, are nearly finished on Middle Arm Road, Goulburn.

Upgrades to the road include shoulder widening, installation of guard rails, speed advisory signs and strip sealing on the road’s edges.

The work began in March this year and was prompted by two serious accidents in 2016 on the same stretch of road.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Bob Kirk thanked the Federal Government for the project.

“The Blackspot Program is a very important one for regional areas such as Goulburn Mulwaree as decisions are based on raw crash data,” he said. “This means the money goes to where it is needed, which is clear with the Middle Arm Road works now completed.

“The shoulder widening has been undertaken on a significant stretch of road and I’m sure all users of Middle Arm Road would appreciate improved safety outcomes.”

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said he is pleased to see this dangerous section of the road improved.

“Community input is always critical in identifying these blackspots,” he said. “Council has taken this feedback on board and thanks to funding from the Federal Government, this section of road is now much safer for vehicles.”
