A man has been stabbed in the leg during a fight between three men at a residential unit in Goulburn on Sunday night (23 February).

A NSW Police spokesperson said the fight occurred at about 11:30 pm when a group of men were socialising at a unit on Goldsmith Street, Goulburn.

A 23-year-old man attended the unit and a fight allegedly broke out between three of the men.

During the incident, the 23-year-old man is alleged to have produced a kitchen knife and stabbed a 20-year-old man in the leg.

The altercation continued down the stairs of the unit block and onto Goldsmith Street.

“Police will allege the 23-year-old threatened an 18-year-old man with a knife, demanding he pay for damage to a vehicle, before punching him in the face,” the police spokesperson said.

The 23-year-old then fled the scene on foot.

The 20-year-old was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Goulburn Hospital. He sustained a puncture wound to his left leg.

Officers from the Hume Police District attended and established a crime scene.

A knife, believed to be used in the incident, was found under the wheel of a car parked at the front of the unit.

At about 2:45 am this morning (24 February), police attended a home in Goulburn and arrested the 23-year-old man.

He was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding – grievous bodily harm, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an outstanding warrant for a domestic violence-related offence.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Goulburn Local Court today (24 February).
