A man is in custody after police claim he threw a three-week-old baby across the bed at a home in Goulburn last week.
On 22 October, a 28-year-old man allegedly forced a dummy into the mouth the baby before tossing the child across the bed.
“Medical attention was immediately sought for the child,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.
Police began an investigation two days later before arresting the man that night.
He was charged with common assault and was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday (28 October).
The man, who is not named to protect the baby’s identity but is from the Goulburn Mulwaree Shire Council, entered a plea of not guilty when he faced court.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
The matter was set for a hearing to contest the charge in late January 2026.
