Jugiong’s famous The Sir George Artisan Bakery has ceased production due to ongoing operational challenges.
In a heartfelt announcement, The Sir George general manager Leonie Sassall and her team took to Facebook on Monday (30 October) afternoon to announce the bakery’s closure.
“Unfortunately, the challenges of recent times have taken a toll on our operations with our famous bread,” the post read.
“We have faced significant staff shortages, making it increasingly difficult to maintain our product levels.
“Additionally, the rising operational expenses have put a strain on our ability to sustainably produce our range of breads.”
Leonie said after much deliberation and with a heavy heart, the company had to make the difficult decision to cease production and sales of their bread effective immediately.
She said the decision was not made lightly, and the team at Sir George understood the impact it might have on their customers’ daily routines.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and loyalty to The Sir George bakery,” Leonie said.
“Moving forward, we will concentrate on producing a small quantity of sourdough exclusively for our hotel accommodation as well as our delicious house-made pies and sausage rolls and pantry items.
The Sir George will continue to make its donuts and house-made pantry products, including olive tapenade, quince jelly, balsamic and pomegranate dressing, mustard and honey dressing, passionfruit butter, roast garlic aioli, cheese and charcuterie platters.
The products can be preordered online via The Sir George website.
If anyone has any queries or comments, they are encouraged to reach out to [email protected].
The Sir George also invites everyone to sample its offerings at its upcoming market day on Sunday 12 November, from 9:30 am.
