A new hourly bus service will give locals and tourists alike the freedom to travel easily around half of the Eurobodalla during the upcoming summer holidays.
The ‘hop-on, hop-off’ Adventure Bus will leave every hour and stop at 22 locations in a loop that runs between the towns of Moruya, Mogo, Tomakin and Broulee.
It will start at 10 am at Moruya’s Adelaide Hotel and head north from town on its route, taking in such locations as the Mogo Wildlife Park, Tomakin and Broulee beaches, the Moruya Airport, as well as many clubs, hotels and breweries along the way. See the below map for the list of stops.
An initiative of the Moruya Business Chamber and sponsored by numerous local businesses, it is the first year this service has run.
“The purpose of it is to assist to generate business in our area and to get people to town, to see what we’ve got to offer in the Moruya area,” the chamber’s treasurer, Glenda Collins, said.
“It’s been a hard time business-wise … a lot of people are saying it’s been the hardest year they’ve had.”
She put this down to the increase in cost of living expenses.
Ms Collins said there were not a lot of public transport options in the Moruya area, so she thought the Adventure Bus would give families, both locals and tourists, more options.
“It’ll give people a lot more choice with how they spend their day,” she said.
“It is also a good thing to get a few cars off the road.”
Ms Collins said the bus tickets, which are $20 for a day pass, also came with discounts at local businesses. For example, a reduction to the cost of playing golf or the cost of a meal, or a free drink.
“Various businesses are chipping in with discounts,” she said.
“If you took into account all the bonuses with it, it would be worth more than $20.”
The Adventure Bus will start running on 27 December and will finish on 27 January, but won’t run on public holidays.
It will leave every hour from Adelaide Hotel on Vulcan Street, Moruya, from 10 am to 8 pm on Sundays to Thursdays, as well as from 10 am to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The price is $20 for an all-day pass, which allows you to get on and off as many times as you like over that day. A two-day pass costs $30, a family pass $40 and a one-week pass is $90.

The bus will be funded by ticket sales as well as contributions from local businesses.
