A 25-year-old western Sydney man, Azadbir Singh, is due to appear before Goulburn Local Court today (Wednesday, 24 February) for allegedly stashing $3 million of cannabis in a truck.
Police located 127kg of cannabis in vacuum-sealed bags during an inspection of the truck at the heavy vehicle weigh station at Marulan on the evening of Tuesday, 23 February.
The inspection was part of Strike Force Raptor’s ongoing operations to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking in NSW.
Three mobile phones were also seized by officers during the search.
Mr Singh, who was driving the truck, was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.
Following the truck search, police also issued a search warrant at a home in Merrylands, Sydney, where a gel blaster, steroids and cash were seized for forensic examination.
Mr Singh was subsequently charged with supplying a prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing a prohibited plant, and dealing with proceeds of crime.
Because Mr Singh is an Indian national, investigators will work with the Department of Home Affairs regarding his visa status.
He was refused bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court today.
