Goulburn Bunnings, Marulan KFC listed among new exposure sites

The public should be given advice on the following, “the positive case only interacted with staff at the other two Goulburn locations & they have not been listed as public exposure sites.”

As someone with a lifetime experience in the mundane profession of logistics, I immediately thought delivery driver from Sydney, and the other two (inconsequential) sites were delivery back docks.

Just saying, as I’m speculating, however those of us in the industry know that the best operating procedure after a Sydney lockdown is for Sydney drivers to stay in Sydney.

The supplies to the regions can be easily handled by regional contractors returning empty trailers to distribution centers in Sydney & collecting loaded ones & simply turning around leaving the red zone without being in contact with anyone in lock down ( it wouldn’t be difficult to fumigate the trailers either – we’ve all seen the film footage).

It is not good enough for “business as usual” practices to continue now.

For anyone to say changes will lead to shortages is a furphy. This is because it’s already in place for a bulk of regional based contractors to visit Sydney to collect goods & return empty trailers for large contractors.

What is happening now is probably whats’s coined a tipping point.

Regional based drivers concerned about being exposed to Covid by poor contingencies are reducing trips in & out of Sydney, where warehouses continue to expect them to load their own trucks from within the Sydney warehouse environment, a pre lock down practice.

It’s all interchangible & can change easily – it does on a normal day – the Sydney DC’s have plenty of staff trained to load the regional trailers.

This is resulting in more Sydney based drivers delivering out of Sydney (I use the term Sydney to refer to the greater lock down area)

The leadership needs to plumb down on the detail & give some better directives.
